Soy- eat it or leave it?

The reason why I am feeling the need to write about soy today is because I want you to know my own truth about it. Soy is now among the few crops that are hurting our health rather than improving it. Along with its devilish counterparts, wheat, and corn, soy is GMO unless it is organic and fermented. What is GMO you ask? Genetically Modified Organism. That’s right, a seed that is genetically altered to kill off bugs and survive in the harshest of conditions. The seed comes with a high price though…Our health. GMO foods, are damaging our guts, and are a known cause for leaky gut. The good part is we are waking up and I say it’s about time to stand up and say ENOUGH!

My soy experience:

I thought I didn’t have an issue with soy until I started listening and paying attention to my body. Soy is extremely high in estrogen which means that it’s making everyone’s hormones off balanced. Men are growing boobs, losing sperm count, women are unable to get pregnant, experience severe painful periods, contributes to thyroid disease, metabolic malfunction, hashimoto's thyroiditis, hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, thyroid cancer, and adults now have acne! The list goes on, but these are just a few examples…

I have made this confession before but I used to have a bad Starbucks addiction; my drink was a Tall, Soy, Chai. I drank these almost daily; I craved the Starbucks experience and the sugary spicy chai taste. I have said goodbye to Starbucks chai and have been Starbucks free for about 3 months now. Why? Because I was consuming WAY too much ESTROGEN! What I was experiencing was adult acne and increasingly bad painful periods (sorry guys-TMI). My body was too high in estrogen, causing my body to retaliate. As always, pain gets your attention and it got mine. A few months ago, I was experiencing bad cramping in between my periods and I was having very heavy bleeding during my period (TMI?). This was not like me at all. My periods have always been normal and painless…So, what did I do at first? I blamed it on getting older. Sure, we all go through different health issues as we get older but we have to listen to what our intuition is telling us rather than sticking our heads in the sand and taking more meds to “cure” our pain.

So, I quit soy. All soy, which means if the package says, “contains soy” or if there is any soy ingredients used, I don’t consume it. Plain and simple. My periods are back to normal, I have zero cramping and my acne has diminished.

What’s the lesson here? Educate yourself on what we are being sold. Agriculture is BIG business and trust me, Monsanto isn’t looking out for our best interest! Make sure to be informed and listen to your body. Question every ingredient because it might be the reason why you are sick! Don’t stick your head in the sand, take action!
